WAUKESHA, Wis. – The man accused in the Waukesha parade tragedy that claimed six lives was charged with five counts of first-degree intentional homicide. Bond for Darrell E. Brooks, 39, of Milwaukee, was set at $5 million. The judge called Brooks a flight risk. He had skipped out on bond before. A sixth charge was expected with the death of an 8-year- old tragedy child after surgery.

Brooks hung his head and cried for most of his first court appearance for mass casualties un the Waukesha holiday parade. He was in a dark green vest. A white Covid mask covered his lower face. His lawyer said little but told the court that his client was indigent. Cameras were not allowed.
