Carbon imprint from campus to drop 25%

WINONA, Minn. — Winona State is hosting a second media event for its rooftop energy-saving solar project, this time for a ribbon-cutting. The event is at 1 p.m. on Tuesday next to the new solar carport off Main Street. The $12 million project is called LESS, short for Leading Energy Savings and Sustainability. Already, the university says, the project has made significant efficiency improvements. The university expects to save $26 million in energy and operating costs over the project’s lifespan. The project also will cut a 25% carbon reduction, the university said.
