WINONA, Minn. – In one step to jack up sagging enrollment Winona State has listed fine reasons for students to sign up for its new winter mini-semester. The “January term,” as some call it, began last winter, mostly with online business classes. Fifty enrolled. In making the case anew for students to sign up, the university made these points:
> If you didn’t get the grade you wanted in a particular class, there’s no need to panic. The J-term can help you catch up. Retake the course for a replacement grade.
> Course content is consolidated into four weeks for an easier focus.
> A J-term class can speed your progress to graduating early.
> Want a second major or to add a minor? J-term can help you get one step closer.
> Save money by telescoping your living expenses into fewer semesters overall.
