WINONA, Minn. – A Winona man who admitted an affinity for flames was arrested at a fire in a recycling bin in the 700 residential block of West Fifth Street on the Far West End. Kaleb Michael Komperud, 18, explained that he gets “excited” when he starts fires, police said. It was a morning high, about 9:40 a.m. The incendiary device: A lighter. Damage was minor and confined to the bin. Police took Komperud to jail and suggested he be charged with fifth-degree arson.
