COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Male students in St. Patrick dorm at St. John’s University made a game of seeking sex with women at nearby St. Benedict’s and keeping score, the student newspaper reported. Will Schwinghammer, the reporter, said it was a competition between the rival first and second floors of the sophomore dorm. Among sources for his 1,100-word article for the joint-campus Reporter, Swinghammer quoted Jeff Glover, the St. John’s s assistant director for student support, that he learned of the competition from the father of a St. John’s student. The father reported that his son’s girlfriend was on the list that had been put in the competition. The women had no idea they were listed. The list is somewhat a mystery, Glover said. “With the numbers of people who know about it, it surprises me that we haven’t been able to get a copy of anything,” he said. The four-story St. Patrick dorm houses 224 men, two to a room. Pat-1 and Pat-2, as they’re called, have 66 occupants each. Liam Miller, Pat-1 student supervisor, said he understood that point values were assigned to various sorts of sexual liaison. The reporter Swinghammer cited several sources who believed the competition was run through a group chat with no hard-copy record. How many students are involved wasn’t known, SwingHammer wrote. Also unknown: Whether points encouraged criminal acts, such as sexual assault.
