MINNEAPOLIS – The trial of police officer Derek Chauvin for killing George Floyd cost Hennepin County about $4 million. The sheriff’s office spent $3.2 million on salaries, equipment and security in the courthouse. An additional $773,000 went for external security, including $18,000 for a drone monitor ing. Costs for the Attorney General’s office, which prosecuted the case, , haven’t been reported. Nor have court expenses.
