ROCHESTER, Minn. — The southern Minnesota Catholic diocese has begun a review of safety protocols in the aftermath of the mass shooting in Minneapolis last week. The administrative officer for the Winona-Rochester diocese, Father William Thomson, said protocols at churches also are in review. The diocese has four high schools and 30 other schools in its 20 counties — a total of 4,500 students. The total includes 900 students at Cotter Schools in Winona. The mass shooting was in the St, Paul-Minneapolis diocese. The Winona-Rochester bishop, Robert Barron, has declared the Minneapolis attack an anti-Catholic act. The shooter, age 23. was a former student at the school.
