WINONA, Minn. – The retired Winona State University football coach, Tom Sawyer, is back at campus – this time as a fundraiser. Sawyer has been named assistant director of development. It’s a six-month $27,700 appointment. Sawyer’s focus will be on stadium gifts and growing endowments for scholarships, the university announced. Sawyer has deep connections with alumni, particularly student athletes. He was the football coach 25 years.
