ROCHESTER, Minn. — A Mantorville woman walking near the Mayo Civic Center was hit by a car. Although the driver fled, a witness gave chase and alerted police to the vehicle’s description. Arrested was Carson Zavala, 21, of the south Minneapolis suburb of Burnsville. How did the accident happen? Police quoted Zavala that he was distracted by his passenger and his foot came off the brake. Why did he drive off? His passenger told him to. No excuses, Zavala was charged with hit-and-run and, also, not having a driver license. The accident was at crosswalk about 2 p.m. The victim was not hurt seriously, police said. The impact sent one of her boots flying off. The boot was recovered, police said.
