WAUKESHA, Wis. – The trial opened with jury selection for the man accused of killing six people and injuring dozens of others at a Christmas parade 10 months ago. For Judge Jennifer Dorow, there is every reason to expect a circus. She granted Darrell Brooks’ request two weeks ago to be his own attorney. Brooks, age 40, has no legal training. In earlier appearance he has been disruptive disorderly and seemed, perversely, to enjoy creating a spectacle. The evidence against him seems hard to deny. He plowed his truck into the parade in broad daylight with hundreds of eyewitnesses. Prosecutors have hundreds of videos.
