WINONA, Minn. – Under a proposal laid before the School Board, Covid precautions in Winona Schools this fall would be limited to masking hinged to the level of community virus transmission The idea is to preclude last year’s confusing vacillations from in-class, virtual and hybrid instruction, Superintendent Annette Freiheit told the School Board. The proposal delegates responsibility for masking to government guidelines. The proposal is on the School Board agenda Tuesday. Right now there is no masking requirement, but everyone is worried about a Covid resurgence. Classes begin September 7.
Data-basing policy
The proposal “recommends” masking and other precautions, regardless of an individual’s vaccination status, when the community transmission rate is low or moderate under government guidelines. Masks are “required “for all when the spread becomes substantial or high.
