WINONA, Minn. – Robert Ray Keister, a veteran Winona State coach who was inducted the university’s Football Hall of Fame in 2015, died at age 88. He also coached track and wrestling. In 1973 when was head football coach, the Warriors won the all-conference championship, albeit the honor was lost after a record-keeping glitch was found that revealed that one player was ineligible.  He graduated from Wartburg College in 1958 in business administration.  He earned a master’s degree at Winona State in 1962.  He was a U.S. Marine reservist from 1952 to 1954 and then on active duty in the Army from 1954 to 1956. Early in his career he coached football and track at Omaha South High School in Nebraska.
