ST. PAUL, Minn. – The state Natural Resources Department announced two special deer hunts in the ongoing battls against the spread of chronic wasting disease. The first hunt will be the weekend after Christmas Day. The second will be the weekend following New Year’s Day. The special seasons apply to DNR’s Southeast and South Metro management zones. Barbara Keller, a big game program leader, said the hunts allow the agency to reduce deer densities in targeted areas. Hunters will be required to provide a sample from harvested deer for CWD testing.
