WASHINGTON – A new federal-tribal agreement provides Native American students with formal access to Army science, technology, engineering and math schooling and careers. The agreement is intended to engage the Army Corps of Engineers and Native peoples through job fairs, career days, workforce visits, and access to projects, labs and research. Lieutenant General Scott Spellmon, of the Corps, noted that 3.5 million STEM jobs need to be filled by 2025. “If our nation and the Army are going to keep up with demand, we need to ensure we’re recruiting the very best talent our country has to offer,” he said.
