WINONA, Minn. – The marketing people at Winona State are gearing up their recruitment advertising to emphasize the university’s ascendency in a much-followed regional colleges ranking of colleges. Winona State rose to 39th in the new U.S. News & World Report list. In a previewing how to use the new information, the marketers also are considering these ratings over recent years:

> Second best public college for veterans in Minnesota and 17th  in the Midwest.

> Third best college in social mobility in Minnesota for enrolling and graduating economicly disadvantaged students.

> Fourth  best buy among Minnesota colleges, a kind of bang-for-your-buck category. At times Winona State has ranked first in this category.
