WINONA, Minn. – CoVid infections have accelerated alarmringly at Winona State, prompting the university to abandon its “lay low” strategy and take new precautionary steps. University President Scott Olson encouraged faculty to shift back to inline tools, like last year, in lieu of in-class teaching. “Course delivery remains at the discretion of the individual professor,” he said. Olson said that 59 new cases were reported among students and employees last week — the highest number since tracking began in 2020. He noted that both Winona County and the state continue also to experience high case and transmission rates.
Campus vax rates
Winona State estimates 78% of Winona students are vaccinated and 86% of Rochester students, university President Scott Olson said. Ninety-three percent of employees are vaccinated, he said.
